Alive and Kicking 10.00h - 13.00h

One should only take from technique what unlocks human processes.-
(a master of western theatre)

How to tell a story with one’s body. Follow one’s fantasy, one’s memory or somebody else’s.
How to obtain that what I do is well done. Yes. But also, alive.
How to do…
By practicing we are searching a way.
We are choosing activities-exercises useful to discover a certain quality in one’s body and voice.
Something similar to what happens during the extraordinary moments of our life, when our body/person is called upon to act with total awareness.
We are searching opportunities to discover one’s automatisms, resistances and try to overcome them. That’s where something happens.
We are working with a few elements trying to expand their richness, believing we can tell all we need to say despite a limited vocabulary.
Through repetition, restlessly, we can patiently sink in the matter of what we do, go towards something we don’t know, take a risk, maybe be surprised by the appearance of something alive.
So, the simple fact of raising one’s arms, if done with all of oneself, as in an emergency, becomes an action, a dramatic gesture, in which we give life to someone, and, through this someone, to ourselves.
Elements of the work:
Learning basic exercises/actions.
Focus on rhythm, impulse and stop, oppositions, balance and weight, noise control, breathing, lightness.
Relation with the context, development of broad attention, comprehending at the same time the performance of the exercise, the presence of the others and the work in space.
Soloist and chorus. Ensemble.
Essential principles: resolution, be alert, react quickly.
Above everything: togetherness.
